Your “One Thing” for Rebuilding Life After Divorce

Have you ever had one of those moments when a book just clicks with something you’ve been working on? That happened to me recently after reading The One Thing by Gary Keller.
The book’s core principle is simple but powerful: if you can figure out the one action that would make everything else easier, or even unnecessary, you’ll make real, meaningful progress toward your goals. And that concept aligns beautifully with what I’m building inside my new program, The Rebuild Architect.
In The One Thing, the idea is that for every goal you have — whether it’s health, career, relationships, or personal growth — you first need a clear purpose. From there, you define a priority: the one thing you should focus on today, this week, this month, or this year to move yourself toward that purpose.
I found it fascinating because it echoes another concept I’ve loved from Essentialism by Greg McKeown: “Do less, but better.”
Both philosophies emphasize figuring out what’s truly important — and learning to say no to distractions.
Here’s the catch: knowing the principle is one thing. Applying it in real life is another. Finding your “one thing” when you’re in the thick of your struggles, especially after something life-shaking like divorce, is far from easy. That’s where outside support becomes invaluable.
And that’s exactly the gap The Rebuild Architect is designed to fill.
Helping Women Identify Their One Thing After Divorce
When you enter my program, we start with your purpose: building a better, stronger life in your next chapter after divorce or separation.
Then, through a few guided questions, I help you identify your top three priorities across 16 life areas where post-divorce challenges commonly show up: things like career reinvention, emotional healing, physical wellness, parenting shifts, financial stability, and more.
Once we zero in on your top one or two priorities, we conduct a Kickstart Conversation.
During this conversation, we map:
- Where you are now
- Where you want to be in 3 months and beyond
- Which priority will be your focus for the next 12 weeks
Building the Bridge
Next comes the 7-Day Sprint: a simple, powerful tool to build the bridge from where you are today to where you want to go. Here’s how it works:
- Each day, you receive a short voice memo with a tiny, manageable action step.
- Each task is laser-focused, easy to complete, and fits into your life.
- You respond at your convenience, either via a short voice note or written response.
At the end of the 7 days, you’ll have completed a series of exercises that give me everything I need to create your personalized 12-week roadmap.
Here’s what you get:
- A Roadmap — Outlining your three-phase journey over the next 12 weeks
- Weekly Checklists — Focused tasks that make daily action steps crystal clear
- Personalized Resource Page — Curated books, podcasts, courses, and community suggestions tailored to your goals
No more staring into the abyss, wondering where to start. No more spinning wheels.
Instead, you get clarity, focus, and momentum toward your One Thing.

Real Client Example: Career Reinvention
Recently, I worked with a client whose top priority was feeling aligned with her career.
In her 7-day journey, we:
- Identified her core values
- Articulated her mission statement
- Assessed her current assets and gaps
- Defined how to bridge the gaps
- Imagined her new identity once on the other side
Through these small, manageable exercises, she gained clarity about her next move, and by the end, she had a personalized, tangible plan for the next 3 months.
Why This Matters
Reading The One Thing inspires you. It makes you want to commit to living intentionally.
But when it comes time to actually apply it to your messy, complicated life?
That’s when most people get stuck.
The Rebuild Architect bridges that gap.
It helps you:
- Define your purpose
- Identify your one top priority
- Build a clear, doable plan
- Stay accountable with daily or weekly micro-actions
Whether your focus is career, health, emotional healing, parenting, or something else, the structure remains the same.
And once you reach your next destination?
You can repeat the process again. And again. And again.
Because life is made of seasons. And when you learn to tackle each season with focus, intention, and clarity, you build a remarkable life. “One Thing” at a time.
